Age of Foolishness is a fashion project by designer/maker Eve Maxwell. Maxwell’s designs combine historical costume with contemporary streetwear inspired by the archetype of The Fool. The Fool or jester is an artist and truth teller. They use costume, performance and jest to both entertain and challenge those in power. Drawing on these concepts, Maxwell makes custom garments and textiles from her Coburg studio.
The photographs belong feature Age of Foolishness collaborations with musician Aarti Jadu and label Sschafer. Maxwell is interested in interdisciplinary collaboration as a way of pushing the boundaries of fashion and textiles, while exploring new modes of design.
Maxwell lives and works on the lands of the Kulin Nation. She acknowledges this land has never been ceded and pays respects to Traditional Owners and Elders across so-called Australia.
